Media Literacy

Today’s youth are flooded with media messages at the same time they are building their own identities and values. Media literacy can help youth recognize and understand messages—subliminal or direct—delivered in song lyrics, television shows, movies, and advertisements or depicted on T-shirts and jewelry. Media literacy is defined as the ability to use critical thinking skills in accessing, analyzing, evaluating, and creating media.

The MediaSharp kit offers an ideal project for a classroom, youth group, after-school program, scout troop, faith community group—anywhere youth gather to learn. Educators and youth leaders across the country use it and rave about its appeal to young people.
