Building Media Relations

Understanding and working with the media is essential to raising awareness among youth, families, schools, and communities about preventing underage drinking. Resources and tools for ensuring successful media relations abound.


“Talk. They Hear You.” is a national media campaign from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that empowers parents to talk with children as young as age 9 about the dangers of underage drinking. This 1-hour archived webinar provides an overview of Campaign materials and lessons learned by one pilot test site in working with the media and others on Campaign dissemination.
