Blood
The bloodstream takes alcohol from the stomach
and carries it through the whole body within minutes. Alcohol
reaches the brain in about 30 seconds. As alcohol reaches the
many organs of the body, it dissolves into the water in the
tissues of each organ.
Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is the
amount of alcohol in the bloodstream. Your BAC increases when
your body absorbs alcohol faster than it can get rid of it.
A BAC of 0.10 percent means there is 1 part alcohol per 1,000
parts of blood. A lower BAC of .08 percent would make you legally
drunk in most States.
